World’s Strongest Woman Gets Stripped of Title

(MENAFN) The champion of the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman contest has been stripped of her crown after officials discovered that Jammie Booker, the event’s victor, was assigned male at birth.

This ruling adds to a mounting series of disputes surrounding biological males participating in women’s competitions.

The issue came to light at the Cerberus Strength Official Strongman Games in Texas over the past weekend, where Philadelphia athlete Booker had triumphed in the Women’s Open division.

Organizers explained that they were not aware prior to the competition that the competitor was biologically male.

“Given this, we have disqualified the athlete in question,” Official Strongman stated on social media, noting their obligation to “ensure fairness” by categorizing athletes in men’s or women’s divisions according to their sex at birth. Following the disqualification, the results were revised, declaring the UK’s Andrea Thompson as the new champion.

The involvement of transgender athletes in sports has sparked increasing controversy. In July, the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee prohibited transgender women from competing in women’s Olympic events, adhering to an order from President Donald Trump that blocks transgender females from women’s teams and threatens federal funding for entities that fail to comply.

High-profile instances, such as US swimmer Lia Thomas and New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard, have intensified the debate over whether transgender participants maintain advantages over biological women.

This discussion continues even as the International Olympic Committee stated in 2021 that there should be “no presumption of advantage,” later delegating eligibility determinations to the respective sporting federations.
